The South Suburban Chicago Chapter had the honor of being the host chapter for the 29th Biennial Mid-Western Region Mothers’ Conference held July 23, 2015-July 26, 2015 in Chicago, IL. Our Vice-President, Nichole Patton, served as the Conference Chairperson, with Salwa Rahim-Dillard serving as Co-Chairperson. All of our members and many of our associates volunteered tirelessly to make this conference a success for the Mid-Western Region.
Shine Bright like South Suburban…
…That was the feeling attendees to the conference left with as we finished up a successful weekend. After almost two years of meticulous planning, we welcomed 200 attendees with a seamless registration process. On the first evening our guests got to see a video showcasing our chapter. Then we entertained them with a dance choreographed just for the event that worked to warm everyone up and invite them to the dance floor to let loose. Thus everyone was primed for the next day’s business. The Logistics were in place so that meeting flowed without a misstep. The nerve center of the conference was the business center and it could not have been a more organized, efficient location. Looking polished and neat in our chapter uniforms allowed attendees to be able to know who to ask for any questions. Our Regional team was well cared for as we attempted to meet their needs beyond expectation, which allowed them to work freely.
Below is the video that was viewed at the Conference Welcome Reception to welcome mothers to our city and showcase our chapter accomplishments.
In addition to volunteering and assisting at the conference, South Suburban Chicago Chapter was also the recipient of two Mid-Western Region Awards:
- Outstanding Membership Engagement Initiative Award
- Largest Foundation Contribution Per Capita Award
Our President, Deadra Woods Stokes, was elected to be a member of the Mid-Western Regional Nominating Committee and will serve on this committee from 2015 – 2017. Our Vice-President, Nichole Patton, was appointed by Regional Director Nadine Gibson to the Mid-Western Regional Team as the Regional Protocol Chairperson.
