Jack and Jill of America, Inc., in partnership with The Joy Collective, has officially launched the Inaugural Crown Clubs – an initiative designed to equip teens with the tools to amplify their voices and advocate for their Crown. These clubs provide a supportive and educational space for teens to engage in meaningful conversations about self-expression, identity, and the cultural significance of their hair.
Our chapter was one of only two chapters in the Mid-Western Region who applied for and were accepted in to the inaugural Crown Club cohort. On February 28, 2025, our teens gathered at the home of our Crown Club Chair, Teen Secretary Cheyenne Smith, to learn more about the Crown Act and celebrate Black hair and Black history. They watched a documentary on the history of black hair and the Crown Act, played a Black history trivia game, and ate soul food while we socialized. They also received hair care products donated by Mielle Organics.
